Trash and Recycling Do's and Don’ts
Please always use a proper garbage can/trash container. Do not place household garbage curbside in plastic kitchen bags or grocery bags. These attract local wildlife (raccoons, vultures, and possums) that tear up the bags and scatter trash. The small grocery bags are too lightweight and tend to get blown around on windy days.
Please use the green-lidded recycling containers to keep your recycling from getting wet or blown around the neighborhood. Wet cardboard and paper are not usually recyclable.
Community deed restrictions prohibit placing trash or yard debris at the curb any earlier than 6:00 p.m. the evening before collection day.
Please help keep our neighborhood looking tidy. Don't put your trash out early.
Work with your yard service to keep debris out of sight until trash day.
Please do not place plastic bags of any type, bubble wrap, Styrofoam or foam rubber, dirty pizza boxes, fast food containers or cups, light bulbs or fluorescent tubes, aluminum foil or shredded paper in recycling. These are just a few items not acceptable for recycling.
Putting such items in the recycling risks the entire truck being rejected at the recycling site.
Trash and Recycling Schedule
- Trash collection days are Mondays and Thursdays.
- Recycling collection day is on Thursday.
- GFL observes the following holidays each year:
- New Year's Day
- Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in November)
- Christmas Day (December 25)
Any trash and/or recycling collection not collected due to one of the holidays above will be handled on our community's next regularly scheduled collection day. In other words, it will be collected the next Monday or Thursday. Our privately contracted waste collection differs from the City of Houston collection schedule, often provided via local news sources, online media, etc.
